The Oak Park Jr. Tennis Foundation was formed to promote youth tennis in Stockton, CA. This organization conducts junior tennis clinics, tournaments, and provides scholarships to graduating high school seniors in the Stockton community. The foundation also helps maintain the Oak Park Tennis Center facility.

John Whittock and his son, John Jr., demonstrated a deep and sincere commitment to the sport of tennis. Both father and son upheld the values of the game and shared their passion as a coach and as a player with many others who also benefitted from their knowledge and experience. John Sr. served as the coach of the tennis team at Edison High School for many years. He was dedicated to promoting junior tennis in the Stockton community by holding free clinics and directing numerous junior tennis tournaments in Stockton, including Oak Park. John Jr. distinguished himself as a strong competitor at the high school and collegiate level. Additionally, he is remembered as having a respectful attitude, integrity and discipline. In memory of their legacies, the John Whittock Sr. & Jr. Memorial Tennis Scholarship is intended to honor two outstanding local area high school seniors. To be considered you must be a member of your high school tennis team during the 2019-2020 season. The scholarship consists of a $250.00 award and the recipients will have their names engraved on a plaque which will be posted in the Oak Park Tennis facility. Applications will be available in the Oak Park Clubhouse after March 1st or by contacting Melissa Whittock at 209.601.1221 or meliswhittock@gmail.com. Applications are due May 8, 2020.
